This is Why I'll Never Go Skydiving : Free Fall at 3000

When I was a kid I always thought how cool it would be to go skydiving.  My fear of heights squashed these aspirations, but this video, taken from a free falling GoPro at 3000 meters, has convinced me to never jump out of a plane.  The camera fell off of one of the skydivers head and was later found in a field.  The video was posted on Youtube to find the owner, and within a day the owner was found.

And now I really want to see what The Olaf Cat looks like wet.  He goes to the pet groomer once a month, so I've never seen him smothered in water, but suddenly I secretly want to see if I could get him to take a bath.  Would he hate me forever?  Do I dare try!!??  Heh, happy thoughts.

I love this video!  So amusing.  So brilliant. So well done.

I think I've watched this now over 10 times and I still giggle.

It seems so real!  And the documentary feel makes it feel all the more real.  If someone could dream up an amazing, but crazy amusement park this would be it.  Honestly, most of these inventive rides would kill anyone who rode them.

An Air Powered LEGO Car

I don't know what I'm more impressed by, the fact that this car is built using LEGO's, or the fact that it's powered by air.  AIR!!!  Actually, it's the air I'm more impressed by.  Sure, the car doesn't drive that fast, but can you imagine the possibilities?  Not that long ago a single computer took up an entire room to function, now we hold more powerful computers in the palm of our hands.

This can only be the beginning.

Why You Can't Trust Movie Trailers! Spaceballs Interstellar Style

And this is why I don't trust movie trailers!

Granted, I love movie trailers.

Really, I do.

So much so that I grumble if I'm standing in the concession line instead of sitting on a theater seat right when the trailers roll.

But then it's also annoying when a movie doesn't fit the trailer--lack of excitement, pacing, etc--or when everything in the trailer gives the plot away, so then seeing the movie is just watching an extended 1 1/2 hr. trailer.  Pointless and a money waste.

That aside, this trailer does make me want to see Spaceballs again, if anything for sentimentality sake.  Though, now that I think about, I kind of want to re-see Galaxy Quest instead.

Fun Cover of Shake it Off, Motown Style!

While cruising the net earlier this afternoon I stumbled across this really fun cover of Taylor Swifts "Shake it off," with a Motown twist.  It's great, and I love the chords.

Von Smith is a little pitchy in parts, but it proves that no auto tone was used in the making of this video.  great vocals and interpretation.

And The Waltz Goes On

I discovered this YouTube video on Facebook.

It's entitled "And The Waltz Goes On," which is composed by Sir Anthony Hopkins! This is from "André Rieu - Under the Stars. Live in Maastricht 5."

I read somewhere that Hopkins wrote this piece 50 years ago, and this was his first time hearing it performed.

As a composer it's one of my dreams to hear some of my music played by an orchestra, but orchestras are kinda hard to come by, and they're expensive!  Oh, but being in front of an orchestra playing at full volume and majesty . . . there's nothing like it.  When I was a music student I had the pleasure of conducting an orchestra for a class final, the piece being the first part of Mars by Holst.  It was extraordinary.  A feeling beyond anything I've ever experienced.  Pure joy.  I was on a giddy high for 6+ hours.

"And The Waltz Goes On," is truly beautiful and haunting.

A great addition to anyone's Sunday!

First Person View of the Luge Track in Sochi Russia Olympics 2014

I found this video floating around Facebook.  It's a first person point of view of the Luge track used in the Sochi Russia 2014 Olympics.

I've tried to imagine what it must be like going down one of those tracks, but this is beyond anything I've ever imagined.  Nauseating!  But it does look like crazy fun.

The Happy Hidden Spider

I hate spiders!  Hate, hate, hate them!  It all stems from my childhood when my Dad was watching "Arachnophobia" with my brother Michael and I present.  I don't think Michael ever recovered.

Still, when Steven showed me this YouTube video I couldn't help but laugh.
