How I Got Three October Mickey Mouse Memory Plushes

So how did I get three October Mickey Mouse plushes?  Dumb luck, and being in Paris the day or so after its release.  So this is really a tale of how Europe benefited from Disney taking extra Mickeys from the China stores, as they don't have the demand and always have extra, and putting them in Europe/UK Disney Stores.  Meanwhile in the U.S.A. people camp outside stores and stay up late for the Mickey plush to sale out within minutes online.  Drama.

But seriously, the only other plush I've bought is the May plush.  The last few months have been crazy.  I collect what I like, not to sale, and being the nerd I am the October plush looks really cool, representing the year 2000.  It seemed impossible getting the plush and pin set this month, being in Europe, but it just so happened that our tour guide allowed us an hour and a half to wander around the Opera de Paris area, and there was a Disney Store right across the street in a shopping department store type place.  I wasn't even thinking they would have pins or plushes left, just assumed they would have sold out.

The main goal for visiting the Paris Disney Store was to see if they have exclusive Disney Store France items.  Dublin had notepads, bags, and mugs in the Irish spirit.  I didn't visit a Disney Store in London, but in YouTube videos I've watched they've showed London exclusive items.  The entire Tokyo stores are pretty much full of exclusives.  Japan has a lot of fun Disney merchandise.  In the Paris store they had a Minnie plush wearing a cute outfit and candles made in France.  I didn't get the Minnie plush, but I did get the Tinker Bell candle that smells so good and is really cute.

I wasn't even looking for Mickey Memories, getting distracted by 90th anniversary stuff, getting a small gold Mickey.

While in line for the check out my Mom was like, "Isn't that the monthly Mickey's?" I looked where she pointed and gasped, seeing several Mickey's hanging in green nerdy fashion, staring at me.  This is something you wouldn't see in a U.S.A. store.  We got one each, and when we were leaving I realized my brother Micheal, who's a computer programmer, would love a Mickey.  We asked if we could get another, and they let us!!  The U.S.A stores has a one plush per person policy.  The online store has a one plush per household policy, even stricter.

I got the May Mickey Memories plush/pins and the September Mickey Memories pins online, not wanting to deal with the store crowd.  The only time this year I went to the Disney Store to get an exclusive LE item was for Mulan.  My Mom and I got there an hour early, 4th and 5th in line.  Nobody else came.  When the Disney employees let us in, they informed us they only got 5 Mulan dolls.  It was fortunate that everyone who showed up got one, and that no one missed out.

October 2015 POPSUGAR Must Have Box Review

 Alas, once again my Mother received her box before I did, which means they put priority with monthly subscribers over gift subscribers.  I am still patiently waiting for my box.

 POPSUGAR Must Have is a monthly subscription lifestyle box for gals.  The cost is $39.95 a month, free shipping, but it's cheaper when you subscribe with a 3, 6, or 12 months subscription.  On any month you can receive goodies for home, a book, fitness, snack, makeup, pampering, fashion, etc.  You never know what you're going to get, only that it will be fun and worth around $100, give or take a little.

We only get one pillow case, but it "prevents sleep wrinkles, reduces hair breakage."  Can't complain about that.  I've heard of the benefits of sleeping with silk pillowcases, but not with satin, so this will be fun to try out.  I've always slept with cotton pillow cases, but at my age wrinkles is starting to become a "thing," so any help is welcomed in this area.

Fuzzy socks!!  For the last few years Popsugar groupies on the forums have been wanting fuzzy socks in an Autumny/Wintery box, so I hope everyone is happy about this.  Myself?  You can't survive snowy weather without fuzzy socks, and you can never have too many, either.

 Why Not Me? by Mindy Kaling, $25.

I like Mindy Kaling, but I haven't read anything she's written, and I honestly don't know what this book is really about, besides the fact that it's not a novel, but I'm curious.  I've seen it at Costco, and even though my Mom has a copy I'm not reading the first page until I have my own copy in my hands.  This my be the first Popsugar book I actually read.

It's been a while since I've used a sugar scrub, so this will be good to try.  I like the smell, all nice and warm.

I'm glad this item was only $8, because it's going right into the trash, literally.

I love dutch style waffles, and the caramel/Cinnamon combo is quite nice.  A yummy snack for once!  I think the snack from the last two months accidentally got thrown away.

A few days ago David Archuleta released his latest single "Glorious" from the documentary coming to theaters October 10th entitled Meet the Mormons.

This song is absolutely beautiful.

When I love a song it goes on repeat, and I literally had it repeating for an hour last night right before going to bed.  This song actually kept me up to 1 am!  I just lay there, listening, letting the words seep into my heart.

I'm going to see it this Friday.  I'm really quite excited, and I think it's really cool that net proceeds are going to charity.

And if you don't want to wait till October 10th to "Meet the Mormons," our 184th Semiannual General Conference is about to start!  Literally, in less then an hour.

General Conference is such a big deal!  Well, I'm always super excited for it when it comes every April and October.  And all my LDS Facebook friends get excited, too.  It seems, without fail, a couple weeks leading up to conference my facebook wall becomes filled with quotes, general conference reminders, articles talking about the best way to get the most out of conference, etc.  And then twitter and facebook explodes when conference is on, everyone sharing favorite quotes, feelings, and lessons learned.

And what's an LDS General conference?

It's when all the Latter-Day Saints in the World, aka Mormons, gather together to receive counsel, guidance, and inspiration from our Prophet, Apostles, and other Church Leaders.  And this Conference, FOR THE VERY FIRST TIME, leaders from other parts of the World who don't speak English as a native language can give their talks in their Native language.  I'm So Excited!!  (I wonder if Dieter F. Uchtdorf, who's an Apostle, will speak German.  Everyone's wondering that.)

Conference is Today and Tomorrow, Oct. 4th & 5th, in 5 sessions.

POPSUGAR Must Have Box October 2013: My Thoughts

 I have been wanting to try a subscription box for month, ever since I first heard about them.  What is a subscription box?  It's a box that typically surrounds a theme, and they send you a curated box full of goodies each month, which is a complete surprise.  It's like Christmas!  So I looked through the countless subscriptions out there including the various Fancy boxes, food boxes, jewelry boxes, makeup, kid themed boxes for my nieces, craft boxes, etc.

In the end I knew there was only one box I HAD to try, and that was POPSUGAR Must Have.  Currently it's $35 a month ($5 off if you use REFER5 at check out on your first box!), though next month it goes up to $35.95).  As a treat for going 3 months without sugar, I signed up for a 3 month subscription at $95, and with $5 off I'm getting these 3 boxes for $30 each!  

You can still get next months box at the low price of $35, 3 months for $95, 6 months for $190 and 12 months for $380 before it becomes $39.95 a box, 3 months for $109.85, 6 months for $214.70, and 12 months for $404.40.  I'm thinking of adding on 6 more months to take me past my birthday, which would come out to $31.67 a box.  So much better then $39.95!

 The Can’t Cook Book by Jessica Seinfeld: $27.99

 What I'm most excited about!  I'm notorious with watching the food network and reading cooking magazines, and not cooking!  My cutting skills are pathetic, and I don't know how broiling works.  This cookbook takes you through all this, and this book employs digital watermakring.  Whenever a picture has a camera image, you can download an app to scan the picture and watch an instruction video on your phone.  Super cool.  And the recipes look so good!  This book became available for purchase just last Tuesday.  

 The West Brush: $14

Somehow Popsugar knew I needed a new brush, and one that's designed to detangle as you brush.  It works!  I tried it this morning.  I've been having issues with my last brush, pulling hair and tangling, but this new brush is awesome.

Julep is super popular in the box subscription World, and I've been really wanting to try.  The navy like color is nothing I typically use, but I know this shade is quite popular in the fashion World.  I tried it this morning, and it's super high quality.  Still not use to the color, but it's fun to try something new.  

And I love, love, LOVE the top coat!

 Jane Tran Bobby Pins: $12

I don't use bobby pins, but these are really cute and good quality.  I'll have to venture over to Pinterest to get some hairstyling ideas.

 The Crispery Halloween CrispyCake: $3.95

 Popsugar always includes a food item of some sort, and this month we got a Halloween themed gormet rice crispy treat from The Crispery!  Super marshmallowy.  Super yummy.  And HUGE.  This picture doesn't do the treat any justice.

 Gorjana Charity Bali Bead Bracelet: $45

100% of the sale of this bracelet goes towards breast cancer research.  It's bright pink thread with 18k gold covered beads.  Unfortunately mine was a whole inch short at 6" instead of 7".  I asked some gals on this Popsugar forum I frequent, and all theirs was the currect length.  I contacted costumer service and they're sending a new one.  I'm really impressed with popsugar's costumer service. 

And finally a Stitch Fix $20 gift card.  It's a clothing service that I won't be using, but I can see how it can be a lot of fun.

Not including the bracelet or gift card the value of this box is $101.44!!  Not bad for $30!!!  And if you include the bracelet and gift card then the value of the box is $166.44.

Now I can't wait to get next month :0)
